Co-organised by the Hong Kong Chinese Culture Development Association, the Confucian Academy and the Filial Piety Association, “The 20th Filial Piety Essay Competition” aimed to encourage teenagers to express their gratitude to their parents and elders through writing, thereby promoting the spirit of filial piety. YAN Hei-lok from S.1R won the Merit Award in the Junior Secondary School section, showcasing an encouraging performance.

The 23rd Graduation Ceremony was successfully held on 29th May 2026. It was our greatest honour to have Mr. CHEUNG Tat-cheong Cooke, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of St. James’ Settlement to officiate at the Graduation Ceremony and present certificates to S.6 graduates.

In his speech, Mr. CHEUNG encouraged graduates to follow the teachings of God while pursuing their life goals. Reflecting briefly on the backstory of Christian education in Hong Kong, he asked graduates to cherish the spiritual guidance they have received at school.

The ceremony concluded with a graduate performance carefully prepared by the S.6 students. Centered around the theme “Establish”, the performance looked back on their six years of school life through singing, dancing, and a photo slideshow. The graduates expressed their gratitude for their teachers’ guidance and the support of their peers. As they bid farewell and looked ahead to the future, they also passed on the torch of the Sun Kei spirit to their juniors.

The 31st Teacher Appreciation Scheme – Sun Kei Outstanding Teachers Awards were presented on the 27th of May. The teacher awardees were selected by all teachers and students respectively in recognition of their professional education endeavours and in appreciation for their dedication.

Organised by the Chinese Language Department and co-organised by the Chinese Society, the quiz competition ‘Chinese Cultural Zhuang Yuan Hong’ was successfully held in the weekly assembly on 26th May.

Throughout the competition, the hosts enthusiastically asked a series of questions, while all teachers and students alike were fully engaged in the ongoing interaction between the stage and the audience.

In addition, student representatives from the Chinese Society staged a mock court trial, who announced the list of winning students in various Chinese Language competitions through a short drama. These included the S.1 Storytelling Competition, the S.2 ‘Our Family, Our Lives’ Story Performance Competition 2026, S.3 Stage Play and Script Adaptation Competition, and the S.4 Historical and Cultural Travel Film Production Competition.

Co-organised by the Sai Kung District School Heads Association, Sai Kung and Tseung Kwan O Secondary School Heads Association and the Sai Kung District Aided Primary School Heads Association, and funded by the Yuk Ching Charity Trust, the 2025/26 Sai Kung District Students Leap Forward Award Scheme Ceremony was held on 23rd May, 2026.

This award scheme aims to provide students with care, motivation and recognition, thereby unleashing their potential and fostering their healthy growth. Students from our school participated in the scheme, and the prize recipients are as follows:

The lunch time book sharing on Lu Xun’s short story, ‘The New Year’s Sacrifice’ was held on the 13th May, 2026. During the session, students dressed up as story characters and staged a mock trial to find the ‘murderer’ in the story. The activity sparked in-depth discussion on the plight of traditional women, guiding students to connect the themes to daily life and explore whether we unintentionally create barriers or exclude those who deviate from social norms.

The annual English week was successfully held from 6th to 11th May, 2026, offering a series of engaging activities, namely ‘Family Feud’, ‘Good Witch, Bad Witch’, ‘Spring Fete’, ‘Inter-class animated poster competition’ and ‘Inter-class Drama Competition’. The activities sparked students’ interest in learning English and fostered a dynamic learning environment. Students and teachers participated in the activities eagerly, from amusing riddles to electrifying drama performances.

With an aim to recognize remarkable achievements of students extra-curricular activities, the Hong Kong Extra-curricular Activities Masters’ Association organised the “2025-2026 Hong Kong Outstanding Students in Extra-curricular Activities Recognition Scheme” on 9th May, in which YAU Nga-yin from 5R received the Award of Outstanding Performance.

The annual inter-class English Drama Competition was held by the English Department on 7th May 2026. S.3 and S.4 students showcased their immense creativity and dedication, from scriptwriting to props management to acting on stage. Their outstanding performances were well-received by all judges, teachers, and students, creating a lively atmosphere.

The Career Guidance Team and the Parent-Teacher Association co-organised a visit to The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) on 2nd May, 2026, attracting over 100 parents and students.

Various activities were featured during the visit, including an Admission Talk, a Campus Tour of the School of Business and the School of Engineering, and a Student Sharing session. The experience not only allowed parents and students to experience the university’s campus atmosphere, but also equipped them with a better understanding of the university’s curriculum and course selection, while fostering communication and consensus between parents and children on career planning.
