The 2026 Moral Education Day was successfully held on 18th September, 2026. Themed ‘Grow Strong, Go Beyond’, the ‘My Pledge to Act’ Launching Ceremony aimed to encourage students to establish attainable goals and to form close companionships.

We were honoured to have Mr. CHEUNG Tat-cheong Cooke, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of St. James’ Settlement as our officiating guest. He encouraged students to have a positive state of mind, and to cultivate strong grit, patience, and passion in pursuing their goals. 

After that, student representatives from Form 1 to Form 6 shared how they would realise the spirit of ‘Grow Strong, Go Beyond’, before leading all students in reciting the ‘Pledge to Act’ and representing each Form in signing the Pledge under the witness of the officiating guest, the Principal, and the Vice-Principals. Finally, teachers and students in the Assembly Hall sang motivational songs together, bringing a memorable close to the Launching Ceremony.

Highlights

Organised by the Committee on Respect Our Teachers Campaign (CROTC), the Teacher Commendation Scheme is held annually to promote the spirit of respecting teachers and caring for students. The ‘Salute to Teachers 2026 – Teachers’ Day Ceremony’ was held on 12th September. Vice-Principal Mr. LIU Chi-yung and Mr. LAU Kam-fai were awarded the Commendation Certificate in recognition of their excellent teaching performance.

The 2026-2027 SKSS Beginning of Term Ceremony was held successfully on 1st September. During the ceremony, Rev. Colon CHOY Hong-nee, General Director of the Asian Outreach Hong Kong Ltd, delivered a sermon regarding God’s goodness in life. He also shared about the framework of ‘EPOCH’ – Empathy, Presence, Opinion, Creativity, Hope, reminding students of the human capabilities that AI cannot replace.

In his speech, Principal HO Chun-yan shared his experience from his recent hiking experience, and he also encouraged students to challenge themselves and overcome their limits, before introducing teachers and staff members to students. The Assembly Hall was filled with peace and joy.

Highlights

The 2026-2027 Orientation Day for new S.1 students and their parents was successfully held on 22nd August, 2026, welcoming them to be a part of the school family. It was aimed to help students adapt to their studies and school life at SKSS. During the programme, the S.1 Class Teachers met with students in their class and got to know each other, preparing themselves for the upcoming academic year.

The 25th Sai Kung District Outstanding Students Award Presentation Ceremony was held on 22nd August 2026. Co-organised by the Sai Kung Cultural Centre, the Sai Kung District School Heads Association, and the Sai Kung-Tseung Kwan O Youth Association, the election aimed to commend students with outstanding academic, athletic, and artistic performance. It also encourages students to inspire and motivate their teenage peers to continue learning and actively serve the community.

Our students stood out and achieved excellent results in both Junior and Senior Secondary categories. The list of awardees is as follows:

Led by Ms. CHAU Ka-yu and Ms. LAU Ching-pang, 20 Sun Kei students visited our sister school in Indonesia, Santa Laurensia High School, from 6th to 12th August. Our students attended lessons alongside their Indonesian peers. They also stayed with their host families and participated in various cultural visit activities. The diverse range of activities helped students from both schools to build lifelong friendships and acquire valuable insights.

Highlights

Led by Ms. CHENG Ka-kei and Ms. CHAN Man-yung, 20 Sun Kei students traveled to Australia to participate in an English Summer Study Tour from 11th to 24th July. During the tour, students participated in English Language and Global Citizen classes held by the ELC Career College. They also stayed with their host families and visited various landmarks across Australia. Our students actively engaged in the activities, strengthening their English language skills, broadening their horizons and acquiring valuable insights.

Highlights

Led by Ms. Ng Wing-yan, four of our students participated in the “10th High-Level Forum on Chinese Traditional Culture Heritage for Secondary School Students” organised by the Second High School Attached to Beijing Normal University from 17th to 22nd July, 2026.

Themed ‘Pass on the Torch’, some 200 students and teachers from different regions participated in the forum. During the six-day exchange, students had an in-depth exploration of the modern significance of traditional Chinese culture through participating in lectures by experts, site visits, themed debates, drama performances, and other activities. Our school’s representatives had an outstanding performance in various activities, demonstrating a solid cultural foundation and innovative thinking, winning four awards as follows:

 

Additionally, CHEN Jing-xuan from S.4R was invited to an exclusive interview by the China Education Television and the Beijing Radio & Television Station, sharing her deep insights and fruitful experience in the forum.

Highlights

Hosted by the Diocesan Boys’ School Robotics Team, our school’s Robotic Team participated in the second Royal Rumble, the FIRST Tech Challenge off-season scrimmage. Our students won the Seal of Approval Award, exchanging knowledge with robotics teams from other schools and gaining valuable insights. The award winning students are as follows:

Co-organised by the ‘My Book One Club’ and the ‘Wholesome Books Club’, the 3rd Hong Kong Primary and Secondary School Students Chinese Writing Competition was held. Themed ‘Why I Love This Book’, the competition attracted over 300 schools, with around 14,000 student participants.

After a round of selection by the panel of professional judges, five students from our school stood out with their flair for writing. LEE Hoi-kiu from S.3M excelled the most, outshining the others and winning the Championship in the Junior Secondary Section. Four other students received the ‘Excellence Award’ and ‘Merit Award’. Additionally, our school received the ‘Most Active Participating School Award’, demonstrating Sun Kei students’ outstanding language skills and profound critical thinking abilities.
