The first Parents’ Talk cum S.2 Parents’ Night was smoothly conducted on 26th November 2021. The event included a talk, sharing from the Principal, ‘Meet the Teacher’ session. The talk’s theme was ‘Know your child and yourself, All rise together — Five ways of Effective Parenting’. We cordially invited Dr. C. Harry HUI, who is a serving industrial-organisational psychologist, Honorary Associate Professor in the HKU Department of Psychology and member of the International Applied Psychology Society. Dr. C. Harry HUI talked about why parents fail to effectively discipline their children and offered advice on getting along with them in harmony. Strategies include knowing your own strengths and weaknesses, refraining from excessive criticism, avoiding lecturing with anger, being in your children’s shoes and praying for them. Nearly 300 attendees joined this event and all greatly benefited from the talk’s rich content.

The 21st Annual General Meeting of the Parent-Teacher Association was successfully held on 22nd October 2021. With over 550 attendees, the event received an overwhelming response. 7 parents were elected to be the members of the Executive Committee, with Ms. CHENG Wai-kwan continues in office as Chairperson. A class period for parents and teachers for every class was held after the meeting, in which parents and class teachers had some meaningful conversations.

Mr. CHAU Wai-sheung, Mario will be nominated for registration as the Parent Manager whereas Ms. WONG Wai-yee will be nominated for registration as the Alternate Parent Manager.

The ‘Parent Volunteers Orientation Cum Training Gathering’ was held successfully on 18th October. A total of 75 parent volunteers attended. Activities included a briefing session on parent volunteer services, duty arrangements, Words from the Principal etc. Principal Dr. POON Suk-han, Halina, MH presented appointment certificates to parent volunteers contact persons, parent volunteers and alumni parent volunteers. A campus tour was also held.

The S.1 Parents’ Night was held successfully on 24th September. Activities included sharing of ‘Principal’s Message’ by Principal Dr. POON Suk-han, Halina, MH, campus life sharing by S1 students, borrowing of parent-child relationship and parent education books and ‘Meet the Teacher’ session. A total of 165 parents attended.

To help freshmen adapt to campus life, Sun Kei Secondary School organised “S1 Orientation Activity” and “Orientation Day for S1 Students and Parents”. “S1 Orientation Activity” was held from 16th to 25th August. Through a variety of activities, ranging from campus tours to bridging courses, new students could learn about Sun Kei Culture and establish learning habits. All freshmen fully engaged in and benefited from the activities.
“Orientation Day for S1 Students and Parents” was successfully held on August 21. Principal Dr. POON Suk-han, Halina, MH welcomed the freshmen and their parents. Vice Principal Mr. HO Chun-yan and Vice Principal TSUI Yuk-ching shared tips on adapting to learning and campus life and Ms. CHENG Wai-kwan, the Chairperson of Parent - Teacher Association introduced the activities of the association. The freshmen also met with their form teachers to get to know each other and be prepared for campus life in the new academic year.

The 20th Anniversary of the Parent-Teacher Association Cum Teacher Appreciation Programme was broadcasted in the Morning Assembly on 26th May. Parents and teachers celebrated with each other, and reviewed the photos from the Parent-Teacher Association over the past two decades and the previous Teachers Appreciation Nights. The Parent-Teacher Association shared their words of gratitude with the Principal and teachers. The Chairperson of the Parent-Teacher Association, Ms. CHENG Wai-kwan, Vice-chairperson Ms. YEUNG Hiu-yin and the Principal Dr. POON Suk-han, Halina, MH exchanged gifts to show appreciation.
Principal Dr. POON Suk-han, Halina, MH presented certificates and souvenirs to the awarding family of the ‘One-minute Parent-Child Short Video Competition’ of the 20th Anniversary of the Parent-Teacher Association. The Parent-Teacher Association also presented a special customised gifts — ‘Little Fan’, for every students’ family and the ‘Smart Mug’ as a gift to the teacher. It was very heartwarming! The inaugural issue of the newsletter "Grace at Home" was also published on the same day.
