Dr. POON Suk-han, Halina, MH has been the Principal of Christian & Missionary Alliance Secondary School since 1999. Dr. Poon is passionate about education and has always been devoted to implementing quality education and inspiring students to broaden their horizons and strive for excellence. Adhering to biblical values and beliefs, Dr. Poon leads the professional teaching team that works together to create a caring and dynamic learning environment. In the early years after the school foundation, Dr. Poon and her 15 co-workers created 15 elements of Sui Kei culture. In 2003, she established three visions and missions of the school - an arena for proclaiming Christ, an institution to develop human potential and a cradle for leaders. Students are encouraged to expand their global views, achieve holistic development and unleash their potential. 

With her exceptional leadership, Dr. Poon has led our school to receive a plethora of awards, for example, Inviting School Award and Fidelity Award, Best 10 Schools Award in the Greater Bay Area STEM Excellence Award, Green School Gold Award in Hong Kong Green School Award for 6 times, Chief Executive’s Award for Teaching Excellence for 4 times, The Best School Team in Sai Kung Outstanding Students Election for 15 times, Outstanding School Award in 1st “Reading Dreams” Reading Education Advancement Award as well as Accreditation under the Quality Assessment Management Accreditation Scheme presented by the HKEAA. During her tenure as the Principal, students have obtained various academic and non-academic awards, ranging from obtaining “7As” in the Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination, tremendous results in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination, to nurturing students to gain admission to renowned universities. 

Dr. Poon has been invited to participate in multiple professional and social services, contributing to quality education and talent cultivation in Hong Kong. Dr. Poon is visionary to proactively serve the Hong Kong education sector with her extensive leadership experience. She has served as the chairperson of Hong Kong Subsidised School Council, assisting the government in formulating policies and striving for more resources for the education sector. She worked with a number of education professional institutions, successfully persuading the government to raise the teacher-to-class ratio, implement the all-graduate teaching force policy and the one-school-one-administrator scheme, refine the salary scale for school heads, increase the position of vice principal, establish the position of SEN education coordinator and BYOD program, etc. Dr. Poon’s professionalism and leadership have been consistently acknowledged, as reflected by the various education awards she has received, including Love Award in Hong Kong Outstanding Education Workers Election, The 1st Prize in 1st Essay Forum for Secondary and Primary School Principals in Pearl Delta Region, Outstanding Principal in 1st Reading Dream Competition and so on. She was also awarded the Medal of Honour by the government in recognition of her contribution to the education sector. 

Cultivating talents with ethical values, Dr. Poon is a caring educator who has shaped the school into a learning institution with a strong commitment to learning, excellence and professionalism. She is bold to explore and innovate and dedicated to promoting the school for continuous progress. Her endeavour has laid a solid foundation for Sun Kei, nurturing moral and intellectual talents who keep abreast of the times and make contribution to society and the nation.
